BAB I PEDAHULUAN 1.1.  Latar Belakang  Tiap penelitian memerlukan sejumlah orang yang harus kita selisiki. Secara ideal kita harus menyelidiki keseluruhan populasi. Bila populasi terlalu besar kita ambil sejumlah sampel yang representative, yaitu yang mewakili keseluruhan populasi itu. Dengan menyelidiki sampel itu kita ambil kesimpulan berupa populasi. Salah satu konsep yang berhubungan erat dengan sampel adalah populasi. Populasi adalah keseluruhan gejala/satuan yang ingin diteliti. Sementara itu, sampel merupakan bagian dari populasi yang ingin diteliti. Terkait dengan hal tersebut, kami akan menjelaskan lebih lanjut dalam makalah ini tentang pengertian populasi dan sampel serta alasan-alasan pengambilan sampel.
